Chapter 1151: Conspiracy
Chapter 1151: Conspiracy
"Considering Pei Yan’s previous symptoms, he should be unconscious just after signing the symbiotic contract. The best evidence is that the two Children of Origin in the Dragon Realm disappeared with him," Bai Ze tapped his fingers on the table as he speculated, "If I’m not mistaken, there’s indeed a critical matter that requires the Ancestral God and Lin Junzhao to handle. This matter is so important that they temporarily set aside Pei Yan’s safety to deal with it. Although we don’t know what the matter is, it’s not important for us! It’s precisely because they had to leave, and to ensure the safety of the incapable Pei Yan, that the Dragon King dispatched two of his close disciples to hide and protect them."Bai Ze looked up at the equally excited Nero and grinned mischievously, "This means that the Dragon Realm is currently without the Master of Origin, the two Children of Origin are unable to intervene, making this the weakest moment for both the Dragon Realm and Pei Yan!"
"I see, no wonder you were so eager to have Fafnir execute the plan. Should we include Pei Yan as a target in this action? Did you mention this in your conversation with the teacher just now? Did he agree?" Nero understood that if Bai Ze’s conjecture was correct, this could be the best opportunity for his revenge. He didn’t care about fair confrontation or honorable fight; he was about seizing the chance when the enemy was vulnerable. If this action could incidentally take care of Pei Yan, it would eliminate a significant threat to both him and Bloodlust.
"Our primary task is still to capture the Dragon King. This matter must be completed! As for the rest, the teacher didn’t explicitly state, but hinted that if conditions permit, we can decide the next steps on our own after completing the task, and the organization will provide maximum support. I’ve already notified that the two legions stationed in the Hell Plane are ready for cross-plane mobilization. Now it depends on whether Fafnir truly carries the weight as he claims, to lure the Dragon King away from the Dragon Realm."
Nero furrowed his brows and asked puzzled, "Two legions? What are you planning?"
"A surprise attack on the Dragon Realm!"
On the third day after Fafnir received the mission orders, the current Dragon King Zhuo Geng was in his sleeping robe, sitting at the desk in the Dragon King’s chamber, listening to his son Salafam report the urgent information he had just received during this late-night visit.
"You found your uncle’s trace." Dragon King Zhuo Geng got up from the sofa and retrieved a bottle of fine wine from the Hell Plane from his nearby liquor cabinet. This wine, with a hint of blood, was a favorite of the Dragon King. After pouring a glass and pushing it towards his son, he casually asked.
"Yes," replied Salafam, taking a sip from the glass. "Since a month ago, people near the Dragon Realm discovered traces of him. From then on, I’ve closely watched his movements. Haha, yesterday he finally slipped up. Our people found his foothold in Half Moon Gorge. He seems to be rallying people and plotting something."
"Humph, him!" After gulping down half a glass of wine, the Dragon King finally felt invigorated, continued pouring himself more wine as he disdainfully said, "What can he do in the current situation! Appearing near the Dragon Realm at this moment—he must have lost his mind! Have intelligence reports mentioned how many followers he has gathered?"
"Including himself, three Ancient Dragons, over twenty Ancient Dragons, and an unspecified number of Elder Dragons but not more than fifty." In the Dragon Race, except for extreme cases, strength is generally correlated with age, so ranks are classified accordingly. Ancient Dragons are roughly equivalent to Tier Nine Superpower Users, and the remaining ranks follow suit.
"Only this few?" Zhuo Geng was taken aback as he furrowed his brows upon hearing this.
"Recently, the Dragon Realm’s strikes against the Dark Race have grown increasingly frequent, and this is the most manpower he could muster near the Dragon Realm without attracting our attention and inviting encirclement! Yet, despite their caution, we still discovered their tracks," Salafam responded with a smile.
"For your sister’s sake and to permanently remove lurking threats from the Dragon Realm, we mustn’t let him escape this time, take thrice their numbers and I’ll personally lead the team to eliminate this family disgrace," Dragon King Zhuo Geng declared without hesitation.
"Father, shouldn’t we inform the other Clan Leader?" Salafam cautiously asked.
"Hmm? Does the Daoist Realm have a presence in this gathering?" Zhuo Geng paused, glass in hand, and inquired back.
Salafam shook his head, "So far, no signs of the two clans merging have been observed."
"Indeed! That rascal’s temperament makes collaborating with the Daoist Realm Dragons even more unbearable than killing him, hahahaha." As he thought about the imminent conflict with his brother, Dragon King Zhuo Geng couldn’t help but feel conflicted. Losing interest in drinking, he put down his glass, shook his head, and chuckled wryly, "Since it’s family, there’s no need for outsiders to intervene, we’ll settle internal matters ourselves."
Turning to his son, who stood before him looking indecisive, he scolded in a slightly displeased tone, "What? Any more questions?"
"Father, I just find it odd! Uncle’s timing is too sensitive; with the Ancestral God absent from the Dragon Realm, my younger brother seriously injured and recuperating, and the two Children of Origin disappearing over these days, his sudden appearance seems too coincidental!" Salafam quickly voiced his thoughts when his father reproached him.
"You suspect it’s a trap?" Zhuo Geng questioned, understanding his son’s implication.
"I’m merely suggesting the possibility, so I’m asking for you to exercise caution."
"Precisely because of caution, I allocated three times their numbers," Zhuo Geng growled, then seeing his son step back after being chastised, he sighed, circling the table to come before Salafam, encouraging him by patting his shoulder, "Your concerns are valid, I understand you’re worried about my safety, but don’t forget, this is the Dragon Realm. Even if the enemy seals the space, we can fly to Half Moon Gorge within an hour from here. Do you think your father, with thrice their forces, can’t last an hour?"
"Father, perhaps my cautiousness was excessive," Salafam conceded after considering his father’s rationale, casting a wry smile.
"Well, being cautious is a good thing; in this regard, you’re superior to me, to your uncle, and even to your troublesome little brother," Dragon King Zhuo Geng remarked, retracting his hand from Salafam’s shoulder and looking at his son with satisfaction, "I understand I’ve shown bias towards your brother in resource allocation, but remember, only you will inherit my position. Your brother is but an instrument to safeguard our clan’s interests. However, his personality is unsuitable for leading a clan. Our family can only thrive under your guidance after the upcoming war, and rise to glory again."
