Chapter 1138: Prophecy
"Hehehe, did I scare you? I haven’t disclosed this to anyone else; you’re the first to know, so please keep it a secret for me." The Ancestral God stroked the neck of the dog lying on his lap, glancing at Pei Yan’s shocked expression, he revealed a sly smile and joked."You, how can you die?" Pei Yan recovered from his loss of composure, but still found the news hard to believe and questioned.
"Everyone can die, even the Master of Origin. Just like the one inside you, she can die too! Back then, we didn’t completely eradicate her because the Foundation Plane still needs her presence to maintain the conversion of the Origin Qi spilling out from the major planes." As the Ancestral God spoke, he straightened his hunched figure, letting the wrinkles on his aged face gradually smooth out. He seemed to appear younger, as a gentle stream of Origin Qi flowed into the dog under his hands, calming it down from its earlier tense state, until it finally fell asleep with a snore.
The act of infusing Origin Qi continued, and the Ancestral God turned to Pei Yan, saying, "In truth, death isn’t entirely accurate for us. As long as our world isn’t destroyed, a Master of Origin will always be born. My death is merely a dispersal of consciousness. One day, a new me will coalesce again. This may take a long time, or perhaps because it will be completed within a millennium or two. But at that time, I will be an independent existence once more; resurrection is more fitting than death."
"Why would you die, or rather rebirth? Is it natural death?" Upon listening to the explanation, Pei Yan finally accepted the fact, and with confusion in his heart, continued questioning.
"If we don’t suffer accidents, we Masters of Origin don’t experience natural death." Without waiting for the Ancestral God to speak, Lin Junzhao, who resides within Pei Yan, answered the question first, then counter-questioned again, "Have you foreseen something?"
Hearing this, the Ancestral God just nodded silently. Seeing this, Pei Yan was astonished, "Big sis, didn’t you tell me predicting things related to yourselves poses great resistance?"
"She’s not lying to you. When we Masters of Origin use predictive abilities, we are indeed obstructed by the Heavenly Dao, but even typically unawakened wild beasts can sense the approach of danger, let alone us, who are almost as long-lived as heaven and earth, and are the concentration of a plane’s spirit and energy!" With a sigh, the Ancestral God continued, "Several years ago I’ve already sensed the warnings from the Heavenly Dao. At first, I was perplexed about what could lead to the downfall of someone like me. I used to be puzzled until after the Sword Discussion Conference, I became certain. There’s a significant probability I might perish in the upcoming great battle."
"The upcoming great battle!" Pei Yan felt cold sweat trickle from his forehead upon hearing this, muttering before he lowered his voice to inquire, "Big sis, haven’t you sensed any crisis?"
"If I had sensed it, I wouldn’t have asked the Ancestral God that question. I just feel unease about the approaching battle, but it’s certainly not enough to foresee my own demise." Lin Junzhao snorted coldly in response, and questioned the Ancestral God again: "Ancestral God, will things really be this severe? Have the other two also sensed this?"
"I don’t know, but I suspect they haven’t. However, this shouldn’t lead you to being overly optimistic. Just because I alone sensed death doesn’t mean the upcoming war will end with just my death and a tragic victory. The reason I could sense it is that my worldly desires are much lower compared to yours, because throughout long years I’ve consistently followed the rules of the Heavenly Dao deeply cultivating, allowing me to capture this fleeting glimpse of heavenly secrets. After that, the Heavenly Dao gets obscured by various factors, making it increasingly difficult for you to sense anything."
Following these words, Pei Yan and Lin Junzhao both grew worried about the looming battle. Observing Pei Yan’s silent tension, the Ancestral God smiled and comforted, "You shouldn’t put too much pressure on yourselves. While I’ve foreseen my death, I’ve also sensed rebirth. I believe my world won’t collapse in this war, although many variables remain, at least this signifies we have a chance of winning, right?"
"To be honest, during the Sword Discussion Conference, witnessing the power displayed by the various planes, it was hard for me to imagine us losing to Blood Sha. I admit Blood Sha is indeed stronger than any single plane, but as long as the four planes cooperate against Blood Sha without internal conflicts, I believe he won’t stand a chance. But your statement and some intelligence we’ve gathered have shaken my belief." Pei Yan stated, scratching his head and taking a deep breath before concluding, "Yet as you said, we do have hope. If someone like you can’t escape death, what do I have to fear? Now all I can do is give my best and leave the rest to destiny. I just don’t understand why you’d share this with me, if it’s merely to convey the message to the one within me, you didn’t need to inform me, right? Surely you Masters of Origin have more secret contact methods?"
"Hmm, I’ll address this question with you later. Do you recall the reason you came to the Spirit Monster Plane?" The Ancestral God retorted without answering Pei Yan’s question.
"Of course, it was to acquire your Power of Origin to fill myself." Pei Yan nodded in reply.
"If I haven’t guessed wrongly, after you won at the Sword Discussion Conference, your big sis would have already requested the Power of Origin from Lin Ruxue, one of the Daoist Realm’s powers for you. But judging from your internal Qi, you haven’t absorbed it yet, right?"
"Yes! Big sis told me the timing for absorption isn’t right yet."
"Do you know why?"
Faced with the Ancestral God’s string of questions, Pei Yan hesitated briefly before speculating, "Is it because of balance?"
The Ancestral God nodded in approval at Pei Yan’s answer, "You’re smart. Precisely because of balance, possessing the Six Paths Origin Qi you should know long ago, the six major planes are corresponding companion existences: Yin, Yang, Life, Death, Chaos, Order. Now, you’ve mastered the Power of Fear from the Hell Plane and the Purification Power from the Foundation Plane. If you then master the power of the Daoist Realm, it would mean your body simultaneously wields three types of Origin Power without any corresponding balancing forces. This wouldn’t just make using those powers cumbersome; more seriously, it would disrupt the balance of Origin Power within you, affecting your Primordial Qi and hindering your meridians, or more severely cause a dangerous breakdown. Hence, your family’s Master of Origin wouldn’t let you absorb the Daoist Realm’s Origin Qi and came searching for mine first."
