Death: Captain Millennium

Chapter 128 Confused Rukia (2)

Chapter 128 Confused Rukia (2)

"Hey! You're the sister-in-law of Byakuya Kuchiki, right?"

As if he couldn't find any reason to refute, he sighed resignedly and asked the petite girl in front of him.

Rukia nodded and confirmed, "Yes, I am Kuchiki Hime's younger sister, Rukia Kuchiki." Her eyes swept over Ichigo Kurosaki and his family, and a complex emotion surged in her heart.

"As expected, you are Captain Shiba." Rukia looked at Isshin and said. She had heard about the former captain of the 10th Division and had even met him before, otherwise she wouldn't have been so sure, but she didn't expect to see him dead here.

Rukia looked at Ichigo Kurosaki's family again, and couldn't help but sigh at the wonder of fate. She had never thought that she would be connected to such an ordinary yet special family.

"Captain Shiba, what happened back then..." Rukia really wanted to know the truth.

"Rukia, although I admit that I am Shiba Isshin, I will not tell you about what happened before, and I am just an ordinary person now." Kurosaki Isshin stopped talking after he finished speaking.

Rukia looked disappointed, but she also understood that some things might not be easily revealed. She decided to change the subject and try to learn more about Isshin's current life.

"So, Captain Shiba, what kind of life are you living now?" Rukia asked curiously.

"Haha, I'm just an ordinary uncle now, living a peaceful life with my family." Yixin replied with a smile, "But sometimes I still think about the fighting days."

Rukia nodded. She could feel Isshin's nostalgia for the past. Just then, Kurosaki Ichigo came over.

"Rukia, let's go for a walk," Ichigo suggested, "I have something to tell you."

Rukia glanced at Isshin, then followed Ichigo out of the room. They came to the courtyard, and Ichigo looked at Rukia quietly.

"Rukia, it seems you know about my father's past?" Ichigo asked with a complicated expression.

Hearing this, Rukia nodded slightly and said: "Yes! Although I am not very clear, I do know some things about your father."

Ichigo's eyes flashed with anticipation, and he pressed, "Can you tell me then?"

Rukia glanced at Ichigo, then slowly said, "Your father was the former captain of the 10th Division of the Soul Society's Gotei 13, named Shiba Isshin. And your Shiba family, like my Kuchiki family, is one of the five great noble families in Soul Society. I used to think your similarities with Brother Haiyan were just a coincidence, but now that I know you are relatives, it's only natural that you look alike."

Ichigo's heart was moved as he listened to Rukia's words. It turned out that his father had such a glorious past.

At this moment, Ichigo suddenly remembered something and asked, "Who is Shiba Kaiyan?"

Rukia was silent for a moment, then replied softly: "Brother Haiyan should be considered your cousin. He is the vice-captain of my squad and a very good person to me. It's a pity..." Her voice was a little low, as if she was recalling a sad past.

Ichigo frowned and asked, "What's going on?"

Rukia took a deep breath and continued, "He fell into a deep sleep after being attacked by the Hollow. My teacher, Captain Lin Yu, said there was a way to save him, but in the end he told me that Brother Haiyan was completely devoured and died by the Hollow." At this point, Rukia's eyes became moist and tears slid down her cheeks.

Ichigo looked at Rukia's sorrow and felt sad. He patted Rukia's shoulder and said comfortingly, "Don't be sad, it's all over now."

Rukia gently wiped the tears from her cheeks, nodded slightly, forced a faint smile and said, "Thank you, Ichigo. I don't know why, whenever I see you, I can't help but think of Brother Haiyan." Her eyes revealed nostalgia and sadness for the past.

Ichigo frowned and asked, "So, who is that teacher you mentioned, Lin Yu?"

Rukia took a deep breath and explained slowly: "My teacher is related to your father's affairs. He was the former captain of the Seventh Division, a Shinigami who had served as captain for hundreds of years. About twenty years ago, a news came from the top of Soul Society that my teacher had betrayed Soul Society and killed your father who was on a mission in the mortal world, as well as Tosen Kaname, the captain of the Ninth Division at the time. In the end, he was killed by Captain Aizen of the Fifth Division." At this point, Rukia's voice became low and heavy, as if that history had brought her endless pain.

"But after meeting your father today, I feel like everything back then was deeply flawed. Just now, when I mentioned the rumor that my teacher had killed him, his expression didn't change at all. If it were true, he wouldn't have remained indifferent after hearing the name of his enemy."

Ichigo Kurosaki stood there silently, carefully considering the information Rukia had just shared with him. He was filled with confusion. What had happened back then? Why had his father gone from being a powerful Shinigami to being an ordinary human? And what was Lin Yu's connection to all this?

Ichigo Kurosaki frowned: "Rukia, I must find out the truth of this. No matter what the cost, I will not back down."

Rukia shook her head helplessly, sighed, and said, "The truth? Only by becoming a high-ranking member of Soul Society can we possibly learn the true situation. But with our current identities and status, all our efforts will be in vain. Moreover, the problem now is that I have secretly passed the power of the Shinigami to you. If the Soul Society finds out, the consequences will be disastrous. This is a serious crime and may even lead to both of us being hunted by the Forty-Six Chambers."

Hearing this, Kurosaki Ichigo widened his eyes and asked in surprise: "Huh? You never told me this before!"

Rukia smiled slightly and said sarcastically, "What? Are you scared?" She knew that Ichigo Kurosaki was not a timid person, but she still couldn't help but want to tease him.

"I'm not afraid!" Kurosaki Ichigo raised his chin and looked at Rukia with a firm face, "Since it has happened, we will face it together. At worst, we can just fight them!"

Rukia laughed at Kurosaki Ichigo's words, "Fighting isn't the way to solve this problem. We need to come up with a comprehensive plan."

Kurosaki Ichigo scratched his head, "So, what do you have in mind?"

Rukia pondered for a moment. "The most important thing right now is to hide your Shinigami power. Try not to attract the attention of Soul Society. As for the rest, we can only take it one step at a time."

"Okay." Kurosaki Ichigo nodded, "I'll be careful. But I still have to find the truth."

Rukia looked at Ichigo Kurosaki with an indescribable feeling in her heart. She knew that this young man before her might really be able to solve all the mysteries...
