Chapter 481 Peaceful Daily Life
Chapter 481 Peaceful Daily Life
The days flowed slowly like flowing water, time slipping quietly across every inch of the small village. The smooth operation of farms and workshops brought a long-lost peace to this once turbulent homeland. Everything in the village seemed so orderly and warm, like a tranquil pastoral painting, exuding the fragrance of life. People worked in the fields, crafted in the workshops, and the entire village seemed immersed in a harmonious rhythm.
Every morning, the sun slowly rises from the east, illuminating this tranquil land. As the first rays of sunlight filter through the village, Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan walk side by side out of their homes to begin their day's patrols. For them, such mornings have become a habit, a small joy in life.
"Look, the weather's great today, and the soil on the farm is moist. It looks like we'll have another good harvest," Ye Wan whispered as she walked. Her eyes were gentle and focused as she scanned the fields along the way. Every piece of land, every crop, carried the hard work and expectations of her and Xie Linchuan.
Xie Linchuan followed her gaze, looking off into the distance. There lay their grain fields, golden rice gleaming in the sun. Hardworking farmers bent over their fields, contented smiles on their faces. "Yes, the return from this land has far exceeded our expectations," he said, his voice deep and warm, tinged with a hint of satisfaction.
They walked across the fields and came to the edge of the farm, where several farmers were carefully checking the growth of the crops. Seeing Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan coming, everyone stopped what they were doing and nodded to them.
"Good morning, leader!" One of the young farmers greeted with a smile. His face was covered with mud, but his eyes were full of pride.
"Good morning!" Ye Wan responded with a smile, a warm feeling welling up in her heart. She knew that it was the hard work of these people that had brought us today's harvest and the hope for our homeland.
Xie Linchuan stopped to check on the farmers' progress, ensuring everything was on track. "Is the soil fertility okay? Are there any problems?" he asked with concern.
"There is no problem for now, thank you, brother. We used new fertilizer and the soil responded well." The farmer responded with a smile, and he was obviously confident in the fields he was responsible for.
"Very good, keep it up." Xie Linchuan nodded, then turned to Ye Wan, "Let's go to the workshop today."
Workshops are an essential part of a village, indispensable to the daily lives of almost all villagers. From the earliest textile workshops to the current carpentry and smelting workshops, each one carries the village's dream of self-sufficiency. These dreams gradually become reality through the creation of each finished product.
Entering the woodworking workshop, the aroma of sawdust filled the air. Several carpenters were meticulously crafting furniture: tables, chairs, bed frames, cabinets, and even the village's iconic landmark, the intricately carved bell tower in the center of the square. Seeing Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan arrive, the carpenters stopped their work and nodded in greeting.
"Thank you for your hard work, everyone. How is the work going?" Ye Wan asked with concern.
An old carpenter smiled and replied, "Everything is fine, Sister Ye Wan. The furniture is almost done, and everyone is busy and happy. Look at this cabinet. It's well made, isn't it?"
Ye Wan glanced down at the exquisite wooden cabinet. Its smooth surface and delicate carvings showed it had been meticulously polished. She smiled with satisfaction, "Excellent! Everyone did a great job."
The carpenters all smiled, and with her approval, everyone felt happier. Xie Linchuan also walked over and exchanged a few words with a young carpenter to learn about the operation of the workshop.
After leaving the carpentry workshop, they headed to the textile workshop. The atmosphere here was different. Amid the roar of looms, several women and young girls busily operated looms, weaving pieces of cloth into exquisite fabrics. Ye Wan gazed at the fabrics, feeling a sense of satisfaction. Since the establishment of the textile workshop, everyone no longer relied on outsiders for their clothes and bed linens, but instead produced them entirely in-house.
"Sister Ye Wan, Brother Xie, the fabric is almost done, please take a look." A woman came up with a smile, holding a piece of freshly woven fabric in her hand.
Ye Wan took the cloth, touched it carefully, felt its softness and delicacy, and nodded with satisfaction: "Very well done, this kind of cloth is very suitable for our needs."
Xie Linchuan also stood aside and smiled slightly: "We don't have to worry about our clothes from now on."
"Yes, everyone has worked hard," Ye Wan said gently to everyone, her eyes filled with gratitude and pride. These hardworking villagers are the foundation of this prosperous home.
Leaving the textile workshop, Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan had grown accustomed to this daily inspection. They weren't in a hurry to leave, but instead paused at the workshop's entrance, quietly observing the bustling scene around them, their hearts filled with a deep sense of peace and contentment. Everyone seemed so familiar, the details of life slowly accumulating on this land, as if nothing in the world could shake their strength.
"We have been living an ordinary but happy life these days." Ye Wan said softly, her eyes fixed on the fields not far away.
Xie Linchuan looked down at her, a gentle smile on his lips: "Yes, such ordinariness is the most precious."
They walked side by side to the edge of the village, surrounded by verdant mountains and clear waters, birdsong and the fragrance of flowers. Everything was so peaceful and harmonious, as if the earth offered them the warmest embrace. At that moment, Ye Wan's heart was free of violent waves, only endless peace and tranquility. This peace was exactly what they had longed for—a world without war and turmoil, a home where they could live in peace and create with ease.
"What will the future hold?" Ye Wan pondered. She wasn't worried about the challenges ahead, because she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, the roots of this home were firmly planted. She, Xie Linchuan, and every villager would work together on this land to create a better tomorrow.
"The future will be bright." Xie Linchuan's voice suddenly rang out, as if he could hear the voice in her heart. He looked at her with a smile, his eyes flashing with determination. "We will always protect this home and make it better and better."
