Chapter 115: Why do children ask these questions?
Chapter 115: Why do children ask these questions?
"What's your name?"
Ron smiled softly and reached out his big hand to touch Vincent's hair.
Such a smile actually made Vincent dazed for a moment.
He experienced a sense of fatherly love from Ron.
He thought, he must be really lacking love.
I felt the father's love just from a stranger.
"Vincent."
Vincent shook off the messy thoughts in his mind and answered in a serious tone.
"Would you like to live with me from now on?"
"I also have a pair of children, they can be your brother and sister."
"You won't have to worry about survival anymore."
"I will give you a good living environment."
Seeing that Vincent had almost finished eating, Ron took a deep breath and spoke.
"Are you really willing to take me in?"
Vincent was stunned for a moment and asked in shock.
He was afraid that everything he had just heard was just hallucination.
"I never lie."
Ron smiled and nodded, feeling inexplicably distressed when he saw Vincent's appearance.
"I am willing!"
Vincent confirmed again and again that there was no falsehood or deception in Ron's eyes.
A big smile appeared on his little face and he nodded obediently.
"You don't need to please me."
Ron frowned. He could sense the power of observing people's expressions in such a young child.
This made Ron feel even more disgusted with Vincent's biological parents.
What kind of negligent parents must be to let their children become so cautious.
"Remember, this is your home."
"You are not living under someone else's roof. You don't need to be so careful to please everyone."
"You just have to be yourself."
Ron put down his chopsticks and looked at Vincent earnestly.
He organized his words in his mind countless times, trying to express them in a way that would least hurt his self-esteem.
"I understand."
"Thank you, Uncle..Dad?"
Vincent spoke awkwardly, as he was too embarrassed to speak the unfamiliar word.
"Don't worry, it's okay to call me daddy when you want to."
Ron laughed happily, and kept ruffling Vincent's hair with his big hands.
Because of the war, he has seen countless homeless children who wandered around and died.
Whenever he meets someone, he will try his best to lend a helping hand.
But Vincent made him like him for some unknown reason, compared to the other kids he had met before.
Vincent made him feel even more distressed from the bottom of his heart, so adopting him was a result of his momentary impulse.
But he doesn't regret it.
At least now, I have no regrets.
After that, Vincent was arranged to recuperate in Ron's villa.
When he was almost acclimated, Ron took him back to the Lan family.
He officially met Garland and Lilith, and Evelyn watched them go from strangers to close friends.
Vincent went from being taciturn to being cheerful and gentle.
He has completely grown into a gentle and handsome young man like a jade tree in the wind.
This was the life until the day Vincent discovered Ron's conspiracy.
He completely broke down, and the heart that was saved by Ron fell apart.
As the dark side of his heart that was healed by Lilith emerged, he seemed like a different person.
In other words, he completely transformed into the Vincent of today.
Vincent felt more and more that Ron was very similar to the blond and blue-eyed man his mother had described.
"Dad, have you ever prepared for war in the Southern Continent?"
Vincent asked tentatively, carefully observing Ron's expression.
"Yeah, for a while."
Ron didn't think much about it and answered his question naturally.
"I heard that during that period, the most distinctive features of the southern continent were some...clubs?"
Ron was visibly stunned when he heard Vincent's next question.
"Why would a kid ask about this?"
"Go see what your sister is doing."
The next second, Ron became extremely serious. He waved his hand and went upstairs on his own.
There was a hidden gleam in Vincent's eyes.
He saw Ron's panic.
And when he mentioned the club, he looked thoughtful as if he remembered someone.
Ron returned to the study and sat on the sofa with a frown on his brows. The scene of the woman begging him kept appearing in his mind.
This was the sin he had committed in the past, and now it was time to see how she was doing now.
It happened in a flash. After making the decision, Ron took his personal attendant and set off for the southern continent.
When he stepped into the club again, the former glory was long gone.
The building was deserted, the ornate tiles were in tatters, and the gold ornaments on the walls had long been scratched off.
Ron shook his head and looked at the ruins in front of him, and the prosperous club in the past emerged in his mind.
When this club was at its peak, tickets were hard to come by and assets had to be verified in order to enter.
I didn't expect it to be so dilapidated now.
"Let's go."
Ron didn't want to be reminded of the past anymore, and he knew very well that he couldn't find any women here.
Relying on his memory, he found the old neighborhood where the woman once lived.
"Your Majesty, it is not appropriate for you to be here."
The dark car stopped outside a stained alley. Before Ron got out of the car, Egg observed the surrounding scene and reminded him.
Hunters are often the most numerous in such places.
"I know it well."
Ron patted Egg's shoulder, put on a baseball cap and a mask, and walked out of the car.
He asked countless neighbors and walked around the neighborhood but never heard any news about the woman.
"Are you looking for the top girl in that club?"
As Ron stood there, ready to return in despair, an old voice was heard.
"Yes, do you know which one she lives in?"
Ron's eyes lit up. This was the only person who knew the woman today.
"She moved out with her son a long time ago, and she still owes me three months' rent!"
"You look so dressed that you don't belong here. She probably owes you money."
"Don't look for them anymore. Maybe they're dead out there. What a sin..."
The old woman kept chattering on and on, then left with her cane.
"and many more!"
"You said she had a son?!"
Ron immediately rushed forward and called out to the old woman.
"Yeah, I don't know whose bastard child she is pregnant with, but she gave birth in my house!"
"If I didn't pity them and their son, I wouldn't rent it to them!"
"Who knew that this woman would later become addicted to drugs, this little boy."
"They live in dire straits every day. When they have nothing to eat, I am the only one who can give him a steamed bun to fill his stomach."
"His mother doesn't care about him at all. She just picks up clients and takes drugs."
The old woman's cloudy eyes recalled the scenes of Vincent being abused and beaten, and her face was full of pity.
"What then?"
Ron was confused after hearing this, because she had clearly told him that she had aborted the child.
He also gave her enough money to ensure she would have enough food and clothing for the rest of her life.
Could it be that he found the wrong person?
