Chapter 869 Qin Feng goes to school to see his daughter
Wu Jiao wanted to leave, but stopped.
He turned and looked at the clerk.
"Hello, I want to trouble you with one more thing."
"What did you say?"
"I have a house and I want you to help me rent it out."
The clerk frowned. "For rent? Is this your own house?"
Wu Jiao nodded.
The clerk looked at her with an ambiguous expression, "You already have a house, why do you want to rent one?"
"It's... inconvenient for me to live there."
The clerk didn't ask any more questions, "Okay, then send us a photo of the house so we can take a look and put it up for you."
"it is good."
Wu Jiao sent the clerk some photos of the house.
After giving some instructions, he took Lin Lin away.
As they left the agency, the afternoon sun was still glaring. Wu Jiao held Lin Lin's hand, her palms sweating. She wasn't sure if this was the right choice, or what awaited them, but she knew she had to take this step.
For Linlin and herself, she had to find a place where Qin Feng would never find them again.
"Mom, are we really going to move to a new house? The tall house?" Lin Lin asked with her little face raised.
Wu Jiao squatted down, looked her son in the eyes intently, and nodded vigorously, her tone firm as if she needed to convince herself. "Well, don't be afraid, Linlin. As long as we're together, anywhere is home. Besides, the top floor is high up, so we can see far away. Maybe we can even see birds flying across the sky."
Lin Lin nodded, seeming to understand, and stopped talking, only hugging Wu Jiao's legs tighter. Wu Jiao stood up, holding her son's hand, and walked in the opposite direction of the way they came.
Her steps were heavy, but her eyes showed a hint of determination and a faint hope for the future. Tomorrow, she would go to see that "cheap" house.
. . . . . .
the other side.
Qin Feng sat alone on the side of the road, reflecting on what he had done.
Neither of the two children spoke properly.
Wu Jiao doesn't let her see the child, and no one knows where Li Jingnan is now.
He suddenly thought of where Xinxin went to school.
He no longer hesitated, took big strides and walked towards the school.
Standing at the door waiting for Xinxin to finish school.
Sweat soaked his back, and the sunlight stretched his shadow very long. The cloth bag in his hand was still heavy, but at this moment, there was a faint glimmer of hope.
Finally, he arrived at the school gate. It was afternoon dismissal time, and many parents were already gathered at the gate waiting for their children. Qin Feng found an inconspicuous corner, stood against an old tree, and nervously watched the crowd surge toward the school gate.
He placed the cloth bag at his feet. The Barbie dolls and snacks inside were the only things he could bring to his daughter.
He didn't know if what he was doing was right. How would Li Jingnan react when she saw him? Would Xinxin still recognize him?
His heart once again rose to his throat, even more nervous than when he had just gone looking for his home. He stared intently at every child who came out of the school gate, his eyes wandering over each innocent face, afraid of missing the figure he had been thinking about day and night.
As the sun sets, the golden afterglow shines on the school gate and on Qin Feng's face full of expectation and anxiety.
He was like a silent statue, tightly holding the cloth bag that carried all his hopes, waiting stubbornly, waiting for the little figure that might appear or might never appear.
Time ticked by, and finally the school bell rang. Children streamed out of the school gate like cheerful birds, their colorful uniforms forming a flowing river. Qin Feng's heartbeat quickened as he searched the crowd for that familiar yet unfamiliar little figure.
"Xinxin, over here!" A clear female voice sounded.
Qin Feng's heart skipped a beat. This voice... was Jingnan!
He looked in the direction of the sound and saw Li Jingnan standing on tiptoe not far away, waving toward the school gate. She was thinner than she had been three years ago, her hair cut short and casually draped over her shoulders. She was wearing a simple T-shirt and jeans, and a hint of anxiety was on her face.
The little girl she called "Xinxin" was running towards her with her schoolbag on her back.
She has two pigtails, wears a pink dress, and has the shadow of him and Jingnan in her eyes and eyebrows. She is his daughter Xinxin.
Xinxin ran to Li Jingnan, raised her little face and called out sweetly, "Mom!"
Li Jingnan immediately squatted down, gently helped her daughter tidy up the loose hair on her forehead, took her little hand, and a relaxed smile appeared on her face.
Qin Feng's eyes instantly turned red. He almost subconsciously wanted to rush over and shout out the name that he had held back countless times in his heart.
But his steps felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead. He saw the gentle smile on Li Jingnan's face. It was a smile that he was once very familiar with, but which he shattered with his own hands after being imprisoned.
If he rushed over like this now, would he scare his daughter? Would he... hurt Jingnan again?
In the few seconds when he hesitated and struggled, Li Jingnan seemed to sense something. He suddenly raised his head, swept his eyes across the crowd, and then, his eyes fell accurately on Qin Feng, and their eyes met.
The smile on Li Jingnan's face froze instantly, and the tenderness in his eyes was replaced by astonishment, disbelief, and... a trace of undisguised vigilance and coldness.
Her body subconsciously tensed up, and she even pulled Xinxin behind her, as if she was protecting some precious treasure.
Qin Feng's heart seemed to be gripped by an invisible hand, the pain was so severe that he could hardly breathe. He saw the rejection and fear in her eyes.
He pulled the corners of his mouth with difficulty, trying to reveal a soothing smile. The bag in his hand shook slightly because of nervousness, making a rustling sound that attracted Li Jingnan's attention.
When she saw that Qin Feng was holding toys and snacks that were obviously prepared for the children, her eyes became even colder and more resolute!
"Qin Feng?" Li Jingnan almost squeezed out these two words from between his teeth, his voice trembling with suppression.
Instead of moving forward, she pulled Qin Nian back a small step, staring at him sharply, as if she was looking at an intruder with malicious intentions.
Xinxin was a little confused by her mother's sudden action. She turned her head curiously and looked at Qin Feng, her big eyes full of strangeness and a hint of timidity.
Qin Feng's heart sank completely. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but his throat seemed to be blocked, and no word came out. He could only watch Li Jingnan.
"Mom, is this person..." Xinxin didn't finish her words when Li Jingnan covered her mouth and said, "Xinxin, let's go."
