Chapter 838: From decisive to gentle
Chapter 838: From decisive to gentle
a few days later.
Shen Qing opened her eyes.
I saw Yan Bei had already put on his clothes and was sitting on the sofa in front of the bay window.
She sat up and looked at Yan Bei, "Why are you up so early?"
"Of course it's early. You haven't forgotten what day it is, have you?"
Shen Qing was suddenly stunned. "Oh no! Today is Linlin's engagement day. I've been so stupid for three years that I can't even remember Linlin's engagement day."
Yan Bei smiled gently, "Don't worry, it's only seven o'clock now, it's still early for the engagement party."
"We can't go on time, I'm your elder sister and you're your brother-in-law. We have to go at about one o'clock to see if there's anything we can help with. Besides, today is not only my sister's engagement party, but also your assistant's engagement party. You should go early." Shen Qing said jokingly.
Yan Bei nodded, "Okay, I'll listen to my wife then."
"Okay, go see if An An and Kang Kang are up, and send them to school first."
"Got it. I'll come back and pick you up later."
"Ok!"
After saying that, Yan Bei walked out of the bedroom.
This was the first time Yan Bei called An An and Kang Kang to get up.
Usually it is Shen Qing who calls the children to get up.
He tiptoed into the children's room.
There are two cute wooden doorplates hanging on the door, the one on the left is "An An Little Castle" and the one on the right is "Kang Kang Adventure House".
Seeing this, Yan Bei smiled.
She first knocked gently on the door of "An An Little Castle", but there was no movement from inside. He unlocked the door and walked in.
The little princess Yan An slept gracefully, her small body curled up like a docile kitten, covered with a pink lace quilt, her long, thick hair spread on the pillow.
The sunlight shines on her pink little face through the gaps in the cartoon blackout curtains specially chosen for her.
"An'an," Yan Bei lowered his voice to a whisper, with a hint of imperceptible doting. He walked to the bedside, bent his tall body, and gently touched his daughter's tender cheek with his fingertips. "Wake up, little lazy bum."
An An whimpered, frowned, buried her head in the quilt, and mumbled incoherently: "Daddy...sleep for five more minutes..."
Yan Bei laughed. This habit of staying in bed was a bad one. He didn't force her to leave. Instead, he patiently sat by the bed, his slender fingers brushing the loose hair away from her forehead. His voice was low and charming, like he was telling her a bedtime story: "If you don't get up now, Kang Kang will eat all your favorite strawberry jam sandwiches. Also, Teacher Li said she's going to teach everyone how to fold bunnies today. If you're late, you won't be able to learn."
Mr. Yan, who is usually a powerful figure in the business world, is now gently calling his daughter to wake up.
At the mention of strawberry jam sandwiches and bunnies, Yan An's eyelashes trembled, and finally, she slowly opened her eyes. They were a pair of almond-shaped eyes very similar to Shen Qing's, now misty, innocent and adorable. "Daddy..." She stretched out her small hand and softly grasped Yan Bei's fingers.
"Yes, Daddy is here." Yan Bei took her out of the quilt, his movements skillful and gentle. "Do you want to dress yourself, or do you want Daddy to help you?"
"An An can dress herself!" Although the little princess had just woken up, she already had a little sense of independence and answered in a baby voice.
"So good." Yan Bei put her down and picked up her school uniform skirt that was folded at the head of the bed. "Daddy will go call Kang Kang, hurry up."
After comforting his daughter, Yan Bei turned and walked towards the "Kang Kang Adventure House" next door. Unlike An An's pink dream room, Kang Kang's room was full of blue and various dinosaur and car models.
Young Master Kang Kang's sleeping posture was much more uninhibited, sprawled out on the bed with one leg draped over the quilt, his saliva practically dripping onto the pillow. As expected of Yan Bei's son, even his sleeping posture was so "domineering."
Yan Bei's approach to his son was clearly different. He walked over to the bedside and, instead of speaking softly like he'd called An An, he reached out his large hand and gently patted Yan Kang's perky little bottom. "Kang Kang, get up!" His voice was low, yet it carried undeniable authority.
"Hmm..." Kang Kang was startled by the slap and opened his eyes dazedly. Seeing that it was his father, his mouth turned upside down and he muttered in a bad mood: "What are you doing..."
"You're going to be late for school." Yan Bei said concisely and directly lifted his quilt.
"No... I still want to sleep..." Yan Kang yawned, turned over, buried his head in the pillow, and tried to pretend to be dead.
Yan Bei raised an eyebrow. He had plenty of ways to deal with this little slob. He leaned over and whispered in Kang Kang's ear, "If you don't get up, your go-kart experience after school will be cancelled."
This is the karting experience ticket that Yan Bei promised Kang Kang to buy for him yesterday.
Kang Kang has been karting for a long time.
I kept asking Dad to go learn karting.
Just yesterday, Yan Bei finally agreed.
He could only use this as a threat to get him out of bed.
This sentence was like a curse. Yan Kang, who was still playing tricks, suddenly sat up with his eyes wide open. "Dad! Are you serious?"
"Do you think I'm joking?" Yan Bei raised his eyebrows, his eyes sharp, with a hint of threat of "Just try it if you dare."
Yan Kang immediately backed off, knowing his father was a man of his words. "I'll get up! I'll get up right away!" He frantically began to put on his clothes, moving quickly, fearing that if he was a second late, the go-kart would be ruined.
Yan Bei looked at his son's little face, curled the corners of his mouth almost imperceptibly, and turned to go out: "Hurry up, I'll wait for you downstairs, breakfast only takes fifteen minutes."
"I know!" Kang Kang's vague response came from the room.
Ten minutes later, Yan Bei was already sitting in the main seat in the restaurant, watching Shen Qing having breakfast elegantly.
"The children are shouting?" Shen Qing asked with a smile.
"Well, I'm getting dressed." Yan Bei picked up the newspaper, but didn't read it much. His eyes drifted towards the stairs from time to time.
Sure enough, not long after, two little guys came running down one after the other. An An was wearing a pink school uniform skirt and cute pigtails, looking like a little angel;
Kang Kang was wearing a blue school uniform and carrying a small schoolbag. Although he was still a little sleepy, he moved quickly.
"Dad, Mom, good morning!" An An and Kang Kang shouted in unison, then climbed onto the children's chair.
Yan Bei put down the newspaper and watched the two children start eating breakfast. The lines on his stern face softened a lot.
He pulled out his phone and checked the time. "Don't waste time eating, you two. Otherwise you'll be late for school. We only have ten minutes."
"Okay." An An and Kang Kang answered in unison.
Sunlight streamed into the restaurant through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, enveloping the family in a warm glow.
Yan Bei, who once only knew work and the cold and hard business world, finally experienced the heart-soothing warmth called "home" after he had a wife and a pair of twins.
Now that Shen Qing is pregnant with a baby, he feels even happier.
