Chapter 426 Ming Shi Sui and Yu Ru Chu's First Acquaintance (1)
Yu Ru took the phone and read through the messages one by one.
Ming Shi Sui, after struggling for a while, finally came up with an adjective, "Like a classmate?"
"Classmate? How could you look like a classmate?"
"Oh, I don't know how to describe that feeling, baby, can you understand? It's like being both far away and close to me."
Yu Ru hesitated for a while, her eyes still fixed on her phone screen, before speaking, "He's friendly to you, and your interactions only occurred because you were together. You were just sitting at the desks in front of and behind each other in the classroom, so it was inevitable that you would interact. However, after class, you went back to your own spaces, right?"
"Ah, right, right!" Ming Shi grinned. "Baby, you're so smart, that's exactly how it feels. Before we meet, Brother Liu never initiates a conversation with me."
"Keep trying. Only people who are serious about relationships will carefully consider each one. If you get together in a short period of time, the relationship will feel unstable."
However, after reading Ming Shisui and Liu Bujing's chat history, Yu Ru abandoned the idea of encouraging Ming Shisui to continue trying. She realized that Ming Shisui's affection for Liu Bujing was like liking a street vendor selling pancakes or an old man who found her a parking spot—it had nothing to do with romantic feelings, and their chat was completely devoid of any ambiguity.
E.g,
Ming Shi Sui: I just saw a really delicious BBQ restaurant online, it looks so appetizing, what do you think? (Two pictures attached)
Liu Bujing: It looks delicious.
Ming Shi Sui: I think so too, I'll go with my baby then. Can you come with us? You drive, and when we get there you can do whatever you want, I'll play with my baby.
Liu Bujing: Okay.
Yu Ru sometimes wondered if Ming Shisui was truly a complete idiot, yet her timing in assigning tasks was incredibly precise. She had listened to Ming Shisui's advice to spend more time with Liu Bujing, and to have Liu Bujing act as a bodyguard and driver when they went out. After all, Yu Guiyuan had taken him and his mother in and taught him gardening skills to make a living, so having him do something was perfectly reasonable. But to call him out and then leave him hanging—what kind of behavior was that?
Yu Ru looked at Ming Shisui with suspicion, handed the phone back to her, and asked, "Ming Shisui, do you not have those kinds of feelings for Liu Bujing?"
Ming glanced at the partition in front of him to make sure there wasn't a single gap, and replied, "Yeah, baby. I don't chat with anyone else, I only chat with him! I've even thought about what it would be like if he were my boyfriend. Hehe..."
She smiled shyly, "It would feel really nice if he could be my boyfriend."
Yu Ru: "..."
Yu Ru finally understood: Ming Shi Sui had unconsciously and selectively become a fool. If she had even half the drive she had when she approached Liu Bu Jing, she would have won him over long ago. This silly woman, she's clueless when it comes to men, but incredibly shrewd when it comes to best friends—she picked Yu Ru, the one with connections to the heavens. As long as she doesn't cause any trouble or betray her, Yu Ru will ensure Ming Shi Sui's life is worry-free and arrange everything perfectly for her.
years ago,
Yu Ru, a college student, signed up for an activity to earn credits: helping out at a dance club's upcoming dance party. She thought it would be just odd jobs, but the dance club suddenly needed to film a promotional video and, lacking sufficient members, used volunteers to fill in. This meant the volunteers not only had to do odd jobs but also perform a simple dance.
The dance required pairs, and most of the volunteers came with friends, so many quickly found teammates. Even those without friends would proactively approach others to form teams. Only Yu Ru, too lazy to communicate, stood alone in a corner, waiting for the team leader to assign her a role.
Just then, Ming Shi Sui, who had already formed a team, noticed her standing alone and walked over to take her hand.
"Hey, miss, don't you have any teammates? Why don't you join us?" Ming Shisui said to Yu Ru with a smile.
Yu Ru did not refuse and joined her.
Ming Shi was uncoordinated, and she struggled to perform even simple dance moves. After two lessons, her original partner became somewhat impatient.
"The two movements are based on the same principle. If you can do the first one, you can do the second one. Why can't you learn it? If you keep doing this, we'll fall behind the group."
Ming Shi looked somewhat embarrassed. She cautiously glanced at her partner and Yu Ru in front of her, then lowered her head and kept apologizing, "I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to, I will try my best."
"Alright, let's practice quickly then."
Yu Ru stood by and watched without saying a word. Of course, she was mute and couldn't speak.
Later, Ming Shisui's original teammate had to withdraw from the event due to unforeseen circumstances, turning the dance from a three-person performance into a two-person one. Because Ming Shisui was not proficient, they had to practice together privately. During practice, they didn't communicate much; Ming Shisui mostly talked to herself, while Yu Ru occasionally nodded or shook her head in response.
The day of the official performance arrived quickly. Since these volunteers were just background figures, their appearances were merely a formality. The day of the finale was rushed, and Yu Ru and Ming Shi had their last conversation backstage.
"Yu Ru, can we go to the cafeteria together for lunch later? This is the last time."
Yu Ru didn't think much of it and directly refused her, shaking her head to indicate her refusal.
"Is it really not possible?" Ming Shisui's expression was clearly hurt. "I have something to tell you. I really like you."
Yu Ru shook her head again.
Generally, people who participate in activities together are just casual acquaintances. Once the activity ends, the friendship is pretty much over. However, since both are frequent library visitors, they soon meet again.
That day, the library's air conditioning was very cold, giving Yu Ru a headache, while the outside temperature was very high. Not long after Yu Ru finished studying and left the library, she couldn't bear the combination of being cold indoors and hot outdoors, and fainted after walking a short distance. Ming Shi Sui happened to see her and took her back to her rented apartment off-campus.
When Yu Ru woke up, she saw a smiling face.
"Yu Ru, how are you feeling now?" Ming Shisui rested his face in his hands and leaned over the bed to look at Yu Ru.
Yu Ru looked around at her surroundings and sent a message to Ming Shi Sui on her phone: Where is this?
“It’s a rented apartment outside the school. You fainted, so I brought you back.” Ming Shi walked to a table, made a cup of glucose water, and held it to Yu Ru’s lips. “Glucose water, drink it.”
Yu Ru took the water and drank it all in one gulp.
