Chapter 558 The Room That Cannot Be Opened
"So, these are all the cannons on your ship?"
"That's right."
"It's a shame that Rosell is the emperor of Intis; he's so stingy with his flagship, unwilling to equip it with any decent gear..."
"Did you forget something?"
Antia glanced at Luze. "The equipment on this ship is from 152 years ago. Back then, cannons were novelties. A ship equipped with multiple cannons was top-tier firepower; other ships would have no choice but to run away if they encountered it."
Oh right, I almost forgot about technological advancements.
Lu Ze suddenly realized, took a few steps along the ship's side, and said, "Would you mind if I equipped the ship with some more new cannons?"
"It doesn't matter to me whether I pretend or not."
Antia waved the long sleeve of her right hand, trying to attract the black cat lying on the deck. "As long as there's the fact that I can fire, even the most ordinary cannon and the crudest shells, I can make them produce terrifying damage... so let's not bother."
As a Sequence 2 angel, her power no longer needs to rely on these things.
But compared to Luna, her allure seemed somewhat lacking. The black cat simply sat upright, its tail curled over to cover its two front paws, its azure eyes fixed on the exquisite black-haired beauty, showing no intention of approaching.
Antia tried a few more times, then gave up and raised her hand to try and distort the distance between them. But Luna seemed to have anticipated the danger and nimbly jumped into the shadows beneath Luze's feet.
"Let it out."
"Antia said."
"You're an angel, so don't make things difficult for a cat."
Lu Ze glanced at her, but instead of pulling Luna out of the shadows, he turned and went into the cabin.
This was his first formal inspection of the Black Throne.
"I don't mean to make things difficult for it, I just want to pet it." Antia followed him into the cabin, still thinking about the black cat. "Such a small thing, so fluffy, it must feel so nice to touch."
It was probably your obsession that made Luna wary.
Lu Ze thought to himself, looking around the cabin.
A closer look reveals a striking decorative style inside the ship: asymmetrical, enormous black candlesticks hang from the ceiling, with even the number of candles on each side differing. The walls are decorated with patterns resembling haphazardly slashed blades, the floor is wide, and the furniture features sharp, distinct lines.
Overall, the interior of the ship gives the impression of being chaotic and heavy.
"To be honest, I'm a little surprised."
Luze laughed, "Russell didn't even decorate this."
In his mind, this emperor, like that mysterious man trying to make the country great again, had a strong fondness for luxurious gold. He had expected to see all sorts of golden objects as soon as he entered, but to his surprise, the flamboyant emperor had kept the ship as it was, instead of imposing Intis's luxurious style on it.
"Of course he added it."
Antia said coldly, "I just threw them all away... For the past hundred years, I've been angry every time I think about how he made me endure this loneliness. So I crushed all the things he left behind—a golden toilet, a cushioned silk armchair, painted wallpaper, a self-portrait... and threw them into the sea."
"Besides, those things really don't match. They're either vulgar and gaudy in color, or they're too shiny and dazzling. I really don't like them."
That's understandable, but it's a bit of a shame, considering it's an antique and contained gold and such.
Lu Ze thought to himself, then suddenly remembered something and hurriedly asked, "Where is his study? Did he leave any writings or anything like that? You didn't throw this away, did you?"
Based on his understanding of Roselle, this guy would never simply help subsequent transmigrators out of kindness. There must be some other purpose behind leaving this ship behind. If he could find his diary left on board, or the original intention behind creating this angel, perhaps he could find the answer to this mystery.
Antia frowned and thought for a moment.
"He should have a captain's cabin, yes, he should have one... Oops, I don't remember where it is?"
Her expression was somewhat puzzled. Although the ship was her spiritual home and she had been on it for over a hundred years, she seemed completely unaware of this.
There was indeed a problem.
Lu Ze became alert and began to walk quickly through the cabins, checking each one. The bewildered Miss Angel followed behind, her long dress rustling against the floor.
The ground floor was a warehouse, with nothing particularly noteworthy. The first floor contained a restaurant, meeting rooms, a lounge, and dormitories, all of which he had inspected. He found nothing. But when he reached the second floor, he immediately noticed something amiss in one of the rooms.
This room faces the bow of the ship and has a great view; it must be the captain's cabin.
What made Luze suspicious was that there was a small table outside the room with a chess set on it—a set of chess from the world he had traveled to before.
Was it like this before?
Lu Ze asked Antiya, referring to the structure in front of the captain's cabin.
"...I don't remember."
The latter struggled to search his memory, but to no avail, and even seemed somewhat uneasy. This unease stemmed from a sense of incongruity; the sudden discovery that within the space he had inhabited for over a hundred years, there were blind spots he had never noticed before was a very strange feeling.
Lu Ze walked to the table, looked down at the chessboard, which clearly exuded a spiritual aura, but there was no malice in it.
Behind the table was Russell's captain's cabin.
Should we just open the door?
It seems a bit dangerous; let's make some preparations.
"Rip!"
So Luze grabbed his left hand and ripped it off. Under Antia's astonished gaze, his severed limb quickly regenerated, and then, grasping the freehand arm, he used flesh magic to control it to hold the handle and try to open the door.
The door didn't move at all.
Is it locked?
Lu Ze retrieved the severed hand, then looked down at the keyhole and discovered that his black key was completely incompatible.
"It can't be opened."
Antia suddenly spoke up, frowning, "There's his aura on this; it must be some kind of restriction..."
"You can't open it either?"
Lu Ze asked, "Even if Tian used all his strength, he couldn't break through this door?"
"There is a correct way to turn it on, but beyond that, I'm not sure."
Antia said, "I cannot destroy this door, or the room it closes."
Lu Ze then gave up.
Rosell, you really did hold back for me... Fine, I'll get your daughter up here when I get back, and see how she deals with you.
