Chapter 564: Classification of Spiritual Roots
Chapter 564: Classification of Spiritual Roots
Just as Zhang Lei finalized the establishment of the Qingdao Sect, a system notification sounded in his ear.
System: Ding! Congratulations to the host for establishing the Qingdao Sect.
Ding! The host is rewarded with a sect hall.
Ding! The host is rewarded with a mountain-protecting formation, which can withstand Golden Core Realm experts.
Ding! The host is rewarded with a spirit-testing stone, which can be used to test the spiritual roots of disciples entering the sect.
Upon hearing about these three rewards, Zhang Lei was overjoyed. He hadn't expected to receive such rewards so soon after establishing his sect.
Zhang Lei then spoke to the system, saying, "System, what exactly are these spiritual roots? Could you explain them to me?"
System: "Ding, in the cultivation setting, spiritual roots are mainly divided into basic five-element spiritual roots, mutated spiritual roots, and special heterogeneous spiritual roots. The following are common classifications:"
I. Basic Five Elements Spiritual Roots
• Metal Spiritual Root: Proficient in metal-based cultivation techniques (such as flying swords and Geng metal techniques).
Wood Spirit Root: Affinity for alchemy and planting; strong vitality.
Water Spirit Root: Proficient in healing, illusion, or frost magic.
Fire Spiritual Root: Proficient in offensive fire magic, suitable for alchemy and weapon crafting.
Earth Spirit Root: Strong defense, adept at formations and underground escape.
II. Classification by Quantity Purity
• Single Spiritual Root (Heavenly Spiritual Root): Contains only one of the five elements' spiritual roots, allowing for extremely rapid cultivation and breakthroughs without bottlenecks.
• Dual spiritual roots: Two spiritual roots, preferably with mutually reinforcing attributes (such as metal + water).
• Three spiritual roots: the most common, with a moderate cultivation speed.
• Four or five spiritual roots (pseudo-spiritual roots/mixed spiritual roots): Each spiritual root has low purity, resulting in slow cultivation. However, if all five spiritual roots are balanced, one can potentially follow the "chaotic" path?
III. Mutant Spiritual Roots (formed from dual spiritual roots under specific conditions)
• Lightning Spirit Root: Known for its destructive power, it is effective against demons and evil spirits.
Wind Spirit Root: High speed, skilled in movement techniques and wind-based escape arts.
• Ice Spiritual Root: A mutation of Water/Water + Metal, primarily for control and sealing.
Dark spiritual root: Rare, mostly associated with demonic paths and curses.
• Light Spirit Root: Extremely rare, suppresses evil spirits, and excels in purification and healing.
…………
IV. Special Spiritual Roots
• Chaotic Spiritual Root: Possesses all five elements in perfect balance, capable of accommodating any attribute of spiritual power; extremely slow in the early stages but invincible in the later stages.
• Void Spiritual Root: Involves the laws of spacetime, enabling teleportation and the creation of space.
• Sword Spirit Root: Naturally inclined towards the way of the sword, progressing rapidly in swordsmanship.
• Poisonous Spiritual Root: Rare, uses poison to fight poison, suitable for poison refining or demonic cultivation.
…………
During the introductory test, the spirit stone will display the type and purity of the spirit root (lower grade, middle grade, upper grade, and top grade).
The five elements' mutual generation and restraint are the fundamental laws of the cultivation world, and their specific relationships are as follows:
Mutual generation (sequential nourishment)
• Wood makes fire: Firewood burns to start a fire
Fire generates earth: Flames burn wood, and the ashes turn into earth.
• Earth produces gold: Metallic mineral veins are found in the soil.
• Metal generates water: This refers to metal melting into a liquid state, or, as the ancients observed, water droplets condensing on the surface of metal.
• Aquatic plants: Plants grow when water is used for irrigation.
Mutual restraint (mutual constraint)
• Wood roots firmly anchor the soil and prevent erosion (also said to draw on the soil's nutrients).
• Earth overcoming water: Building earthen dikes to block floods.
Water extinguishes fire: Water can put out fire.
Fire overcomes metal: intense fire melts metal.
• Jin Kemu: felling trees with knives and axes
In the cultivation system, spiritual root attributes are closely related to the choice of cultivation techniques and Daoist arts: mutually reinforcing attributes can amplify and support, while mutually restraining attributes will weaken or create resistance.
As Zhang Lei listened to the system's explanation of the various spiritual roots, he remembered that he himself had the lowest level of mixed spiritual roots of the five elements, and then he thought of his three wives, who all had mutated spiritual roots. He couldn't help but feel a little envious.
But then he remembered that he possessed a system, and he quickly regained his confidence. As long as he could make the Qingdao Sect bigger and stronger and create new glories, he would one day become an invincible being in the world.
However, Zhang Lei quickly realized that his understanding of the cultivation system was still too vague, so he decided to continue asking the system questions.
Zhang Lei said, "System, tell me about all the cultivation levels I can currently access, and explain each realm clearly."
System: "Ding—Received. Host, this system has been recalibrated and will now provide a detailed explanation of the entire cultivation system. Please listen carefully."
I. Human Cultivation Systems (Three Types in Total)
The first type is Taoism.
Daoist novices: Novice Taoists who can draw a talisman for peace of mind and a calming mantra, and can ward off evil spirits. They have a faint sandalwood scent on their bodies. At this stage, they are not even at the Qi Refining stage of cultivation. They can only be considered to be at the "Sensing Stage" or "Entry Stage". They have just touched the threshold of spiritual energy.
The sorcerer can perform rituals, invoking the help of the Earth God and the Kitchen God to exorcise evil spirits and cure illnesses. During thunderstorms, he can even draw lightning to strike someone, and the talisman will begin to emit golden light. This corresponds to the Qi Refining stage in immortal cultivation.
The True Person: Can enter and exit the underworld and interact with ghost messengers; a single talisman can kill low-level demons; their aura is like the sound of an ancient temple bell, causing ghosts to flee at the mere mention of it. Corresponds to the Foundation Establishment stage of immortal cultivation.
Celestial Master: The leader of a sect, possessing the Celestial Master Seal passed down from the patriarch. This seal allows the master to mobilize the spiritual energy of a province's dragon veins, and the Five Thunderbolts technique can injure enemies at the Core Formation stage. This corresponds to the Golden Core stage in immortal cultivation.
Daojun: The pinnacle of the Daoist path in the mortal realm. His words become law; he can ignite fire at will and freeze ice at will. He may look like an ordinary old man, but mountain spirits and wild monsters tremble at the mere sight of him. This corresponds to the Nascent Soul stage in immortal cultivation. Once you reach this realm, you cannot advance any further.
---
The second type is martial arts.
Body Tempering: Strengthening muscles, bones, and skin; capable of shattering large rocks with a single punch and withstanding ordinary swords. This stage doesn't even qualify as Qi Refining; it's purely physical strength.
Internal Strength: Cultivating internal energy allows one to strike from a distance, snapping a tree three zhang away with a single palm strike. It involves tempering the internal organs. It corresponds to the Qi Refining stage in immortal cultivation.
Gang Qi: Internal energy released outward to form a protective aura. Low-level spells are repelled upon approaching, a single punch can collapse a wall, and one can briefly step into the air. Corresponds to the Foundation Establishment stage of immortal cultivation.
Divine Realm: Entering the Dao through martial arts, unlocking the divine treasure within the body, possessing power surpassing that of demonic beasts of the same level, able to fly briefly, and capable of shattering a small hill with a single punch. Corresponds to the Golden Core stage of immortal cultivation.
Martial Saint: The pinnacle of martial arts, unparalleled throughout history. Achieving sainthood through physical prowess, slaying demons with a single drop of blood, shattering mountains and rivers with a single roar. Corresponds to the Nascent Soul stage to the early Deity Transformation stage in immortal cultivation. There are no higher levels.
---
The third type is the warlock.
Apprentice: Raising one or two types of Gu worms and doing some basic Feng Shui. It doesn't even qualify as Qi cultivation; it's just the beginning.
Warlock: Simultaneously controls dozens of Gu worms, casting simple curses to bring misfortune or illness to those in need. Corresponds to the Qi Refining stage in immortal cultivation.
Grand Master: Raises powerful Gu worms such as the Golden Silkworm Gu to poison low-level cultivators, inflicts sudden death from illness with curses, and can influence an entire village with their Feng Shui formations. Corresponds to the Foundation Establishment stage of cultivation.
The Witch King: The pinnacle of sorcery, capable of poisoning Foundation Establishment cultivators with Gu worms and wiping out entire families with curses, but with extremely severe backlash. Corresponding to the Golden Core stage in immortal cultivation. He has reached the top.
---
II. Cultivation Systems (Four Types in Total)
The first type is the orthodox cultivation of immortality (the standard).
Qi Refining Stage: Introduce spiritual energy into the body, cleanse the meridians with true qi, and be able to release fireballs and ice spikes to drive low-level magical artifacts. At the peak, one can take dozens of steps into the air and live for decades longer than ordinary people.
Foundation Establishment Stage: True essence transforms from a gaseous state to a liquid state, condensing into a Dao Platform in the Dantian. One can fly on a sword, travel a thousand miles a day, shatter houses with fireballs, and live for five hundred years.
Golden Core Stage: The true essence of the whole body is compressed into a golden core. One can travel thousands of miles by sword to take a person's head. The true fire of the golden core can melt gold and cut iron. One can suppress low-level cultivators by expanding the golden core domain. The lifespan is two thousand years. The golden core is divided into five grades: gold, purple, blue, green and gray.
Nascent Soul Stage: When the Golden Core shatters, a Nascent Soul forms and sits in the Dantian. If the Nascent Soul is not destroyed, even if the physical body is destroyed, it can still possess another body and be reborn. It can leave the body to investigate intelligence and can transform into a giant several meters tall to fight. Its lifespan is five thousand years. It can destroy a country by itself.
Nascent Soul Stage: The Nascent Soul merges with the laws of heaven and earth to form the Primordial Spirit. It can create a small world with its own rules within a radius of a hundred miles, and can teleport to a distance of a thousand miles in a single step. Its lifespan is twenty thousand years. Fights are fought based on who has a deeper understanding of the laws.
Tribulation Stage: Enduring the Heavenly Tribulation of the Four Nines, a total of nine levels. Each level passed causes a surge in combat power. Passing six levels grants the title of Quasi-Emperor, and passing nine levels allows ascension. During the Tribulation Stage, combat power will temporarily spike to an absurd level due to the conflict with the Heavenly Dao.
