Akainu strode through the air using Geppo, the sonic booms of his steps echoing loudly. The gravity on this planet felt a bit lighter than back home, but the green sky and blue grass made him deeply uncomfortable. The air itself smelled of decay.
Looking down at the land below, he didn't care where that idiot Kaido had run off to go crazy, nor did he care what that pirate scum Doflamingo was plotting.
Only one thing occupied his mind: completing the mission set by Shop Manager Blake and bringing the Dragon Balls back.
It was for the future of the Marines, and for the sake of enforcing his own Absolute Justice.
Ahead, a thick plume of black smoke rose into the sky, accompanied by faint screams and the roar of energy explosions.
Akainu immediately changed direction, diving toward the source of the smoke.
It was a waterfront settlement. The uniquely shaped, semi-circular houses had already been reduced to ruins. Over a dozen corpses lay haphazardly on the ground. They had green skin, antennae on their heads, and bled bizarre purple blood.
A group of alien soldiers in white combat suits surrounded the center of the village, laughing maniacally.
Akainu landed smoothly on the rubble at the village entrance, his Justice coat snapping in the hot wind.
He spotted a surviving green-skinned elder in the center of the village. Wrinkled and covered in wounds, the old man desperately shielded a massive orange orb beneath his body. The orb contained several red stars.
This had to be the Dragon Ball the Manager mentioned.
An alien soldier with a crocodile head impatiently stepped forward, grabbed the old man by the collar, and hauled him up.
"Old thing, hand over the Dragon Ball right now! Lord Frieza has no patience to wait for garbage like you to compromise."
The old man spat out a mouthful of purple blood. "You demons... the gods of Namek will never forgive you."
The crocodile-headed soldier laughed. "Gods? Lord Frieza is the god of this universe!"
He raised his right hand high, a dangerous light gathering on the edge of his palm. He prepared to decapitate the old man with a hand chop and rip the Dragon Ball from his corpse.
Watching the scene, the magma inside Akainu began to churn uncontrollably.
Regardless of the world, this kind of behavior—bullying the weak and slaughtering civilians—crossed the bottom line of his Absolute Justice. Even if these civilians were green-skinned aliens.
Scum is scum. They had to be completely eradicated.
Akainu issued no warning. His right arm swelled violently, dark red magma bursting right through his suit sleeve. Boiling lava violently churned in the air, transforming in the blink of an eye into a massive, molten dog's head.
The ambient temperature skyrocketed, the terrifying heat warping the air around him.
"Great Eruption!" Akainu growled.
The colossal magma hound roared outward with apocalyptic force, instantly crossing the dozens of meters between them.
The crocodile-headed soldier didn't even have time to turn his head before the dark red magma completely engulfed him. There was no struggle. Not even a scream.
His so-called indestructible combat suit and his flesh vaporized into a wisp of black smoke in the thousands of degrees of heat.
The magma continued unabated, crashing into a large boulder behind him and melting the massive rock into a bubbling pool of lava.
The remaining alien soldiers were stunned stupid by the sudden turn of events. They scrambled, dropping their weapons in panic, and whipped their heads toward the man in the crimson suit standing at the village entrance.
"Who goes there?!" yelled a tall, lanky soldier. He frantically tapped the Scouter on his left eye.
The screen immediately displayed a string of red numbers.
Beep-beep-beep-beep... The urgent alarm blared as the numbers skyrocketed from five thousand. Eight thousand. Ten thousand. Fifteen thousand. It finally settled at seventeen thousand, five hundred.
The lanky soldier stumbled backward in terror.
"Impossible! How can this unarmored barbarian have a power level of seventeen thousand?! That's almost as high as Lord Cui's!"
The other soldiers also wore expressions of sheer terror upon hearing the number. But strict military training kept them from turning and running immediately.
"Don't panic! He's just one man! Open fire together, blow him to pieces!" the lanky soldier roared, steadying their ranks.
They quickly fanned out, bringing their hands together toward Akainu. Blinding energy gathered in their palms.
"Die, native!"
Dozens of high-intensity energy blasts poured out like a torrential rain, weaving into a dense net of fire that completely engulfed Akainu's tall figure.
Deafening explosions chained together at the village entrance. Dust and fire erupted into the sky.
The soldiers gasped for breath, staring at the center of the blast.
"Did we get him? So what if his power level is seventeen thousand? Taking that many ki blasts head-on is a death sentence."
However...
Before the dust could even settle, a deep, oppressive voice echoed from within the flames.
"Is this the extent of your attacks, you evil scum? Pathetically weak."
Akainu stepped out of the smoke with measured, steady strides. The Justice coat draped over his shoulders didn't even have a scorch mark.
Those concentrated energy blasts had indeed hit him. But at that exact moment, his body had turned into flowing magma. The blasts simply phased through the dark red lava and detonated on the empty ground behind him.
The elementalization of a Logia-type Devil Fruit. In the Dragon Ball universe, where Haki didn't exist, it was an entirely unsolvable ability.
Akainu looked expressionlessly at the panicked aliens. With every step he took, the Namekian soil surrendered to his terrifying heat. The blue grass blackened, and the hard earth melted into bubbling, dark red pools of lava.
He advanced upon the soldiers, treading a path of molten rock.
"Monster! Physical attacks don't work!"
"The energy blasts went right through him!"
"What the hell is this guy?!"
The psychological defenses of the soldiers shattered completely. Their proud combat power meant nothing in front of this red-dog of a man.
The lanky soldier turned, preparing to take to the skies and flee.
A flash of terrifying killing intent crossed Akainu's eyes.
"Before Absolute Justice... no evil can escape."
He pulled his right arm back sharply. The entire limb transformed into an extremely condensed pillar of magma.
"Dark Hound!"
Akainu threw a punch. The elongated magma arm shot forward at a speed invisible to the naked eye, catching up to the lanky soldier just as he lifted off.
The dark red magma fist pierced effortlessly through the soldier's chest. Boiling lava erupted within his chest cavity, incinerating his internal organs to ash.
Unable to scream, the soldier's body violently convulsed in mid-air. With a flick of his arm, Akainu tossed the charred corpse to the ground like trash. It shattered into a pile of black charcoal upon impact.
The remaining two soldiers fell to their knees, their legs completely giving out, and kowtowed for their lives.
"Please, spare us! We were just following orders! Lord Frieza forced us to do it!"
Akainu walked up to them, looking down at the weeping, pleading scum.
"If begging for mercy worked... what would be the point of the Marines?"
He lifted his feet. Two surges of magma erupted from his soles, instantly drowning the two soldiers. Their screams lasted for half a second.
The village returned to a deathly stillness. Only the bubbling sound of magma pooling on the ground remained.
Akainu deactivated his elementalization, his red suit returning to its crisp, tailored state. He walked over to the Namekian elder.
The elder stared in horror at the man who had just single-handedly slaughtered the enemy. He didn't know if this man was friend or foe, but the brutal methods he had employed felt even more terrifying than Frieza's army.
Akainu ignored the elder's terror. His eyes fell on the massive Dragon Ball.
This orb was larger than any gem in the pirate world, and a strange energy pulsated within it.
So this is the Dragon Ball that grants wishes... Akainu mused internally.
If he could bring all seven back... not only would he complete the Manager's mission, but he might also be able to wish upon Shenron. He could completely annihilate every pirate in the world and establish a truly perfect world, utterly devoid of sin.
The mere thought made his breathing grow slightly heavier.
He reached out, preparing to take the Dragon Ball from the elder's grasp.
A gentle breeze blew past behind him.
