Chapter 290 Lin Dongzhe's Decision
Chapter 290 Lin Dongzhe's Decision
Zhuang Chaoying tore open the envelope; inside was a photo, a group photo of the actors.
As Zhuang Chaoying carefully read the contents of the letter, a smile unconsciously crept onto her lips.
This Director Xie is quite interesting. In his letter, he not only expressed his gratitude for the previous collaboration, but also earnestly invited me to the filming location in Heilongjiang Province in December to provide guidance and to check if there were any parts of the script that needed to be revised.
Being invited to participate in such a creative process is a recognition of his professional abilities.
But soon, his brows furrowed slightly again. The timing didn't quite add up. He hadn't even had a holiday in December yet, and he still had teaching duties at school and other work commitments. He couldn't find the time to leave.
He sat down in the chair, opened the script, and initially just wanted to skim through it, but he became engrossed in it as he read.
He had been watching since the afternoon. He stretched his slightly sore shoulders, looked at his watch, and realized it was already past 3 p.m. He hadn't expected to have been watching for more than four hours, and his neck was stiff and uncomfortable.
I've read most of the script, and the overall quality is quite high, with basically no major changes.
However, the rewritten ending is somewhat unrealistic, forcing a happy ending. While such an ending may provide emotional comfort to the audience, it feels somewhat forced from a logical and realistic perspective.
However, it's still acceptable, since artistic creation sometimes requires some idealized expression.
Zhuang Chaoying got up and stretched, thinking that she should cook. Ah Ling works hard every day, and she should have a hot meal when she gets home.
As he pondered this, he walked towards the kitchen, tied on an apron, and began preparing dinner.
. . . . . . . . . .
Meanwhile, in the bustling movie theater, Pengfei, Lin Dongzhe, and Xiaoting sat in the middle.
Lin Dongzhe's eyes would frequently turn to look at Xiaoting, who was engrossed in watching the movie, his gaze filled with undisguised affection.
Pengfei quickly sensed that someone next to him was distracted. He turned his head and saw Dongzhe staring intently at Xiaoting. He then followed Dongzhe's gaze.
It turns out he wasn't looking at himself, but at Xiaoting, this Lin Dongzhe!
Pengfei found it amusing, reached out and turned Lin Dongzhe's face away, leaning his head closer to him, and whispered.
"Watch the movie, don't think about anything else."
Lin Dongzhe nodded, but his eyes, as if out of control, still couldn't help but want to look at Xiaoting.
The movie was very interesting, with a lighthearted and humorous plot that made everyone laugh out loud from time to time.
Just as Erzi and Niuzi crawled into the cement pipe and started kissing, Pengfei quickly reacted, covering Xiaoting's eyes with a serious expression. "Children can't watch."
Xiaoting peeked at the screen through her fingers, her face instantly turning red. She gently removed Pengfei's hand and muttered softly, "Brother Pengfei, you're only a year older than me, not that much older."
Pengfei let go of his hand. "Being a year older is still being older. Okay, let's put this behind us."
As Lin Dongzhe watched the scenes in the movie, his thoughts drifted far away, automatically replacing the faces of the two characters with his own and Xiaoting's.
He could almost see himself embracing Xiaoting, the two of them comfortably drinking beer and eating peanuts, just about to share a sweet kiss, when suddenly both sets of parents appeared.
His beautiful dream was instantly shattered.
He looked back at Xiaoting, who happened to be looking at Pengfei when she met Dongzhe's eyes. Their eyes met, and in that brief moment of eye contact, the two young people blushed and their hearts pounded.
Xiaoting pursed her lips, pretending to be calm as she looked at the big screen, but her mind was in turmoil. Why did Dongzhe look at her like her father looked at her mother? Why did she blush? She put her hand on her chest, feeling her heart pounding. Why was this happening? A feeling she had never experienced before quietly spread in her heart.
Dongzhe wasn't much better off; his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his throat.
He secretly glanced at Xiaoting's profile; her delicate features, illuminated by the light and shadow, captivated him. He didn't care about others; in his heart, Xiaoting was the most beautiful one.
His lips unconsciously curled up, and he thought to himself that as long as he could stay by Xiaoting's side every day, he would be full of energy. He even studied harder than before.
But then he thought about how Xiaoting would be going to university and they wouldn't be able to be together for four years, and he felt very disappointed.
No, I have to try my best and prove myself. He gritted his teeth, stamped his foot, and made up his mind to get into the same university as Xiaoting.
After the two-hour movie ended, the three of them walked out of the cinema with bottles of soda in their hands.
The sunlight outside was a bit too bright, so they squinted slightly.
Pengfei took the two soda bottles from them to return them, muttering to himself as he went. "A bottle of soda costs 25 cents, and we can even get a 10-cent refund. It's only because the stall at the entrance saw that we were going to see a movie that they didn't let the three of us finish the soda right there in front of the stall."
A little while later, Pengfei returned with three cents in his hand. "Xiaoting, Dongzhe, today's movie was really interesting. What's wrong with you two? Why aren't you saying anything?"
Lin Dongzhe chuckled and scratched his head, looking somewhat awkward. "It is quite interesting; I'm just reminiscing about it now."
Pengfei nodded. "Let's go home."
Pengfei rode his bicycle with Xiaoting steadily on the back, while Lin Dongzhe followed at a leisurely pace.
Pengfei hadn't ridden far home when he spotted his classmate Liu Lili.
Liu Lili looked flustered. When she saw Pengfei, she quickly ran over to him, panting heavily.
“Pengfei, I was just about to ask for help when I ran into you. My brother got electrocuted while changing a fuse. Could you help me get him to the hospital? My dad took his bicycle to work.”
Upon hearing this, Xiaoting quickly got off her bicycle. "Brother Pengfei, you should go now."
Pengfei nodded and rode his bike behind Liu Lili. He hadn't gone far when he suddenly remembered something. He realized that if he left, he wouldn't be able to see Lin Dongzhe and Xiaoting anymore. Everyone knew how Lin Dongzhe felt about Xiaoting.
So he turned around and shouted, "Dongzhe, Xiaoting, you two should just go home!"
Lin Dongzhe beamed and waved happily at him. "Okay, go help now."
As soon as Pengfei's figure disappeared around the street corner, Lin Dongzhe's heart began to race again.
He looked at Xiaoting. "Xiaoting, a new iced rice wine shop opened near our house. It's still early, do you want me to go with you?" Xiaoting glanced at her watch; it was only a little past one, and she didn't have anything to do at home. "Sure, I was thinking of going too, let's go."
