Chapter 147 The Story of the Witch and Coffee

Chapter 147 The Story of the Witch and Coffee

"Is there anywhere you'd like to go?" At an open-air café in a small town, Elena sat on a side seat waiting for her café au lait.

The café provides its customers with the town's daily newspaper, allowing them to quickly learn about various events happening in town while waiting for their coffee.

"No," Qin replied succinctly, glancing at the newspaper.

He never cared about these things at all.

“You always give me the same answer every time I ask you this question. No, you have to give me an answer today,” Elena said. “Even if you just want to go into the sea to search for the lost civilization of Atlantis, I’ll go for a swim with you.”

“I can’t believe you’d believe such a rumor,” Jean said. “Have you considered how long you’d be traveling like this?”

“I’m done traveling now, so I won’t travel anymore,” Elena said. “Don’t get off topic, you still haven’t answered my question.”

Is this blatant attempt to change the subject because you look down on me?

Just then, the waiter brought over the café au lait that Elena had ordered.

Because of Elena's special request, the coffee had extra rock sugar added—and the designer even drew a cat smiling at Elena with foam on its surface.

The latter was added entirely on the coffee designer's own initiative, but to be honest, Elena doesn't really like cats—after learning that she was severely allergic to them, she avoided them like the plague.

"Haven't you always wanted to visit the City of Oblivion? Let's make that our next destination," Qin casually offered.

"Please note, I asked where you want to go, not where I want to go," Elena said, carefully picking up her coffee with displeasure. But just as she was about to enjoy her moment of happiness for the day...

"You lazy bum again!!" A burly man strode in, wielding a stick, seemingly oblivious to the presence of Elena and Qin, and forcefully slammed open their table.

In the blink of an eye, the peaceful atmosphere was shattered by this uninvited guest.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Oh, no, Elena's coffee au lait was tragically destroyed because she couldn't dodge in time, and the strong coffee was drunk all over the big man's clothes.

You idiot! Are you blind?!

Elena glared at the guy who had prevented her from getting her coffee. The burly man didn't seem to care that his clothes had just been used to enjoy a free coffee. Instead, he grabbed a young man and yelled, "Get back to work! How dare you slack off here!"

He completely ignored Elena.

It should be said that he completely ignored everyone in the coffee shop except for that unemployed young man.

Irene was about to teach him a lesson, or more accurately, to make him realize that he should immediately compensate for the loss of his coffee.

But just as she pulled out her wand, she discovered that the burly man who had been swinging the young man was now being swinged by someone else.

In other words, this person directly lifted two people up.

Qin, what are you doing?

"What do you want?" Before the burly man could even notice his surroundings, he was swung up by a smaller man. "Put me down. Do you know who I am?"

“You scared my newspaper,” Qin said.

ha?

The newspaper scared you?

"Compensation or injury, choose one." Qin didn't waste any more words.

"I'm from the Kingdom's Discipline Inspection Bureau, how dare you..." Before the big man could finish speaking, he was thrown down by the zither, and the poor young man and the big man fell together.

“Even if you’re one of the King’s men in the Bureau of Discipline Inspection, you still have to compensate me for the mental distress caused to my newspaper. It’s not expensive, just the price of a cup of café au lait,” Qin said.

The big man, in pain, prepared to retaliate, only to find that before he could even throw a punch, Qin had hit him on the scalp, making him dizzy and almost taking him to see his great-grandmother who had passed away many years ago.

"Have mercy, my lord! This has nothing to do with me!" The young man who had skipped work seemed to be frightened by the zither, worried that he would also get a scalp slapped without explanation—he wasn't as thick-skinned as the person who had dragged him to work, and he was afraid that if he got a scalp slapped, his skull would be carried on a journey.

“I know you can go now,” Qin said. “But if you want to pay the money in his place, I don’t mind.”

"I'm leaving, I'm leaving. I'll never skip work again." The young man seemed to have received a tremendous shock, a shock even greater than when the disciplinary inspection bureau arrested him to come to work.

After the young man fled in a panic, crashing into several road signs and disappearing from sight, the burly man finally regained some of his senses from the lingering effects of the scalp irritation.

His gaze towards Qin instantly cleared: "I'll pay for it right away."

Sometimes, all it takes for people to grow is limited care from others—like a loving touch. To turn back from the wrong path, to return to one's roots, is the greatest virtue.

“My newspaper says you should pay double for being dishonest,” Qin said. “The cost of two café au lait.”

Go to your newspaper.

But the big man didn't dare to resist: "Of course, this money will buy you two copies of O'Lei newspaper."

"Yes," Qin nodded.

After the burly man nervously handed over the small amount of money he had,

"Excuse me... brave warrior, may I leave now?" the burly man asked.

“No way. The owner of this coffee shop might invite you for coffee—oh, the kind you pay for yourself,” Qin said. “I think you can afford to buy me a newspaper and coffee, so you shouldn’t be short of money.”

After tidying everything up, Qin returned to Elena's side, whose eyelids were still twitching.

"Would you like to go to another coffee shop?" Qin asked.

“You didn’t actually have to use the newspaper as an excuse,” Elena said, her eyelids twitching.

But Qin didn't say much.

He was clearly standing up for me—where did he learn this dishonesty from? Last time he kept bringing up my bread.

Oh well, his annoyance has subsided.

But I've lost my appetite for coffee.

“Let’s go, let’s go to the next place,” Elena said.
