Chapter 1921 - 1925: Count to Twenty Seconds
"Alright then!" Ah Jiu reluctantly agreed, "This ring is very important to the master and mistress, so please keep it safe. Once the matter is resolved, please notify us immediately, and we will come to retrieve the ring."
"Understood." Mr. Charlie asked them a few more questions and then let the two leave.
Ah Jiu and Ah Sang walked out of the police station together and got into the car outside. Once Ah Sang started the car, Ah Jiu turned to look at Leng Zimo in the back seat, "They’ve confirmed the body is yours. I’ll send someone to remove the corpse and dispose of it later."
"I’ve already arranged a new hideout. Should we take you there now?!" Ah Sang asked.
Leng Zimo secretly sighed in relief, "Alright."
The car continued forward, and Leng Zimo leaned back in his seat. He raised his wrist and opened the clasp on his watch, revealing a rapidly moving small red dot inside. He suddenly sat up straight.
Quickly adjusting the map on the locator, he urgently looked at Ah Jiu.
"Quick, give me the map, turn on the light!" Ah Jiu handed over the map, and Ah Sang turned on the reading light in the back seat. Leng Zimo matched the map with the locator, carefully comparing, and his right finger fell on the harbor by the sea, "Immediately to the harbor, hurry!"
Ah Sang hurriedly turned the car around and headed onto another road, while Ah Jiu looked at Leng Zimo in confusion, "Sir?"
"Xiao Qian has left the castle and is approaching the harbor. Luo Ke must be trying to take her away from here. We have to stop him." Leng Zimo lifted his head from the map, "Ah Sang, drive faster!"
"Okay!" Ah Sang agreed and pressed down on the accelerator, and the car sped urgently toward the harbor.
...
...
Inside the police station.
Inspector Charlie examined the silver ring sealed in a bag, gave some orders about Leng Zimo to his assistant, and immediately walked out of the office, heading to a quiet, deserted corridor. He took out his phone, intending to call Luo Ke.
Behind him, a cold, circular object silently pressed against his lower back, followed by a voice with a hint of laughter.
"Don’t move, Inspector. Please raise your hands."
Inspector Charlie froze, quickly raising his hands.
A slender hand reached over and took the small plastic bag from his grip.
"Count to twenty seconds, and then turn around. I really don’t want to hurt you, so don’t force me."
Whispering in his ear, the voice put the ring into a pocket, and Leng Zirui slowly withdrew the gun pressed against his waist, stepped back two paces, and swiftly left with a push on the cleaning cart.
Inspector Charlie counted to twenty, then turned around, only to see an empty corridor. He immediately shouted loudly, pulled out a gun, and rushed to the next corridor.
"Seal the building immediately! Someone just grabbed evidence from my hands!"
The police station’s alarm blared instantly, and all staff members, holding guns, began searching swiftly.
While chaos unfolded upstairs, Leng Zirui already carried a black trash bag out of the hospital, tossing the bag on a pile of garbage in the alley. He casually tore off his work clothes and hat and tossed them onto the trash heap, then stepped onto the street, hailed a taxi, and sat in the back seat.
