Chapter 065 Evil Must Be Punished
"What's wrong with Sister Jing?"
Su Ruowei frowned, looking worriedly at the child through the window.
"call!"
Lin Fan sighed. In order not to worry Su Ruowei, Lin Fan originally wanted to handle everything by himself, but he did not expect that Su Ruowei had already noticed the signs.
"What happened?" Su Ruowei asked anxiously.
Lin Fan turned his head to the side and said, "I found Zhou Xiaojing in front of the shopping mall. She was covered in blood and had several broken ribs. She is currently undergoing surgery at the hospital, but thankfully she is out of danger."
Su Ruowei breathed a sigh of relief, "It's good that there was no danger." Then she bit her lower lip, puzzled, "Why would someone as good as Sister Jing encounter something like this?"
Lin Fan did not answer, but he already had a plan in mind.
The two then returned indoors, and as they watched the child innocently eating, a ripple of emotion stirred in Su Ruowei's heart.
"Honey, I'm your mom's colleague. Could I borrow your mom for a few days? I'm so busy at work lately," Su Ruowei said.
The girl looked up, her big, watery eyes wide: "Sure, sister, you can borrow my mom for a few days!"
Su Ruowei hesitated for a moment, and Lin Fan said for her, "The timing is still uncertain, but the company will take good care of your mother. How about letting your sister take care of you recently?"
"Yes! My mom is amazing. She doesn't need to worry about me. I'll take good care of myself." The girl smiled innocently, her eyes full of admiration for her mother.
Lin Fan and his wife were amazed by the girl's maturity, and it's not hard to imagine the deep affection Zhou Xiaojing has for her daughter.
"Sister, do you want to stay at my house?" The girl's eyes sparkled with anticipation.
Su Ruowei was still worried about the girl's accommodation. She had thought of letting her stay at Zhou Xiaojing's friend's house, but she was worried that it would cause concern among everyone.
The girl's question solved Su Ruowei's problem, but Zhou Xiaojing was already hospitalized, so she probably couldn't get into her house. Thinking of this, Su Ruowei watched as the girl took a key out of her small schoolbag and handed it to her.
It's surprising that such a young child already has a key to the house, but it's understandable, since Zhou Xiaojing and her daughter are the only ones who depend on each other for survival.
Su Ruowei took the key and looked at the girl gently. Then she heard the girl say, "Sister, I'll take you to my house!"
This child is an angel!
"Mmm!" Su Ruowei responded.
Afterwards, Su Ruowei and Lin Fan secretly discussed it and decided to take care of the girl at Zhou Xiaojing's home.
Lin Fan suggested to Su Ruowei that they keep Zhou Xiaojing's experience a secret from everyone. Su Ruowei readily agreed, as both of them were afraid that people would worry and that it would cause panic.
Su Ruowei was even more worried that everyone in the company might encounter the same thing, because she had a vague feeling that someone was deliberately retaliating against her.
"I'm worried about something. If I don't tell everyone, will they all face the same retaliation?" Su Ruo whispered. Although saying it might not prevent the situation from happening, it was better to give them a heads-up and take precautions.
"Everyone will be fine, I promise you!" Lin Fan's tone was reassuring and without a doubt.
"I'll take you and the child home. Once you're safely home, I'll go to the hospital to see her," Lin Fan said.
Zhou Xiaojing lives in a residential area not far from Shancheng Jin Street. It is an old residential area with low-rise buildings, with the top floor being only five stories, but the overall security is quite good.
The girl took Zhou Xiaojing's hand and led them to Unit 2 of Building 11. There was no elevator in the building, so the three of them went up the stairs. Zhou Xiaojing's home was on the second floor, west-facing unit.
Su Ruowei used the key the girl gave her to open the door, and the neat, orderly, and cozy interior came into view.
Zhou Xiaojing's home is not large, but everything is arranged in an orderly manner. The coat rack and shoe rack at the door, the decorations on the walls, the spotless floor, and every place in sight tells the story of the homeowner's love for her home.
"My room is over there!" the girl said, holding Su Ruowei's hand with her left hand and pointing ahead with her right.
Seeing that Su Ruowei and the girl had arrived home safely, Lin Fan greeted them and headed to the hospital. On his way to the hospital, Su Ruowei called home to say that she had been staying at the company because she was busy with business.
Shen Yunlan repeatedly emphasized the need to be wary of Lin Fan, and Su Ruowei reluctantly gave a few perfunctory replies before hanging up the phone.
Lin Fan arrived at the hospital and happened to run into the nurse from before as soon as he entered the operating room.
"Congratulations, the surgery went smoothly, and your spouse has been transferred to a regular ward," the nurse said with a smile.
"You've misunderstood, that's my colleague." Lin Fan smiled awkwardly, paused for a moment, and then asked, "Could you please take me to her hospital room?"
The young nurse looked Lin Fan up and down, wondering what kind of relationship he had with her to pay hundreds of thousands of yuan in medical expenses for a colleague. Could he be her boss? Even if he was her boss, he was incredibly kind.
Led by the nurse, Lin Fan arrived at Zhou Xiaojing's ward. Zhou Xiaojing was awake, but her face was full of pain, with a hint of sorrow in her expression.
When Lin Fan walked to Zhou Xiaojing's bedside, Zhou Xiaojing noticed his arrival.
"Thank you for saving me, Mr. Lin." Zhou Xiaojing said and tried to get up, but Lin Fan quickly stopped her.
"Take good care of your injury and don't move around too much! Ruowei is taking care of your daughter at your home, so don't worry." Lin Fan paused for a moment and then said, "We haven't told your daughter about this, nor have we told anyone at the company, because we were afraid they would worry."
When Zhou Xiaojing heard that her daughter was being taken care of, a huge weight was lifted from her heart, and she was filled with gratitude. She never expected that Lin Fan and his wife would take such good care of her.
Seeing Lin Fan's concerned gaze, Zhou Xiaojing said gratefully, "Don't worry, Mr. Lin, I'll definitely catch up on the work once I'm discharged from the hospital!"
"You should focus on getting better and not think about work for now."
Suddenly, Lin Fan's gentle gaze turned cold, and his voice became low as he asked, "Did you see clearly who attacked you?"
Zhou Xiaojing's heart skipped a beat. As soon as she went downstairs after get off work, she was surrounded and beaten by several people. When she was still conscious, she realized that the group of people were her former colleagues.
Having worked together for so long, Zhou Xiaojing kept to herself and those people, never expecting that by not colluding with them, she would suffer this undeserved disaster.
“They were all former colleagues. I really don’t know why they treated me like this.” Zhou Xiaojing’s eyes were red and swollen as she said this.
"I see, all of them?"
Zhou Xiaojing nodded. Without exception, all the colleagues who had left earlier were perpetrators of violence, including several girls who, despite being weak, had punched and kicked her quite a bit.
Lin Fan turned to the nurse beside him and whispered, "Please take good care of my colleague. Arrange everything to be the best. I'll pay for it."
Lin Fan deliberately avoided letting Zhou Xiaojing hear these words, fearing they would burden her. Instead, he turned to Zhou Xiaojing and said:
"Take good care of yourself. Ruowei and I will take turns visiting you. It's getting late, get some rest!"
After saying that, Lin Fan turned and left the ward. In the instant Lin Fan turned around, the nurse caught a glimpse of Lin Fan's eyes, which were filled with a terrifying look that seemed to want to devour someone.
