Chapter 144 Double Mission
Chapter 144 Double Mission
The surviving solo player was still sitting there, motionless.
He witnessed from beginning to end the masked man instantly killing his two companions and the prisoners' suicidal charge.
Only then did he realize that the place he was sitting on was damp, and he reached out and touched it.
Oh my god! It was pee! You scared me, I thought it was sweat!
He was initially quite happy; the crazy "warden" had been killed, and he was finally safe.
When he finally saw the person clearly—a white mask, a black trench coat, and red gloves—his heart sank completely.
This is the real warden!
The true map boss of Tide Prison.
The people around him were undoubtedly his renowned warden's personal guard.
He alone was no match for this team.
His legs instinctively pushed him back until his back hit the cell bars, and he didn't know whether to raise the gun in his hand or throw it away.
The battle was over. The warden coldly stared at the terrified lone wolf on the ground, then glanced around.
Li Hao and his two companions sensed the warden's gaze and obediently stepped out from behind the warden's troops.
They watched and recorded the game from a short distance at the back of the team.
When Li Hao saw that the player was still alive, he paused for a moment, looked at the warden, and after receiving a nod from him, quickly walked over.
"Brother, are you alright?" Li Hao squatted down and checked the player's injuries.
The player was shot in the shoulder, and blood was flowing down his bulletproof vest, but it didn't hit any vital organs.
There were also abrasions on his arms, probably from being knocked down by the hammer soldier.
"Don't move, let me take care of it." Li Hao took out a first aid kit from his bag, tore open the packaging, and applied hemostatic gauze to the wound.
The player was completely frozen, letting Li Hao manipulate him, his eyes constantly glancing towards the warden.
During the bandaging process, Li Hao tightened the bandage, causing Li Hao to wince in pain, but he dared not cry out. He quietly lowered his voice and asked Li Hao, "You...you're in cahoots?"
Li Hao looked up. "Who are they?"
The three men glanced in the direction of the warden, then looked back.
Helpless, Li Hao continued treating the wound: "No."
"Then why don't they beat you up?"
Li Hao didn't know how to answer, so he simply applied the gauze and continued with the surgical pack.
The player became even more nervous, his voice trembling: "Brother, I recognize you! You're Li Hao, the one who brought the main battle tank model out of Tide Prison!"
"Who exactly are you? You walked right past them, and they didn't attack you at all?"
"Could it be that you really are with the warden...?" He didn't dare finish his sentence.
Jiang Chi, who was listening nearby, couldn't help but chuckle.
"It's not what you think," Jiang Chi said. "We're just ordinary players, we have nothing to do with the warden."
The player clearly didn't believe it.
"You guys definitely have connections," the player insisted. "You must be on their side, or you have powerful backers. Otherwise, why wouldn't the boss attack you?"
"That makes sense now!" He slapped his thigh, looking as if he had just realized something.
Chen Xiaoxun, who was squatting nearby, shook his head upon hearing this.
"Brother, really no," Chen Xiaoxun said. "We did take on a mission and temporarily teamed up with the warden."
The player simply wouldn't listen.
His shoulder was throbbing with pain, and his mind was in turmoil, but one thing he was certain of was that these people were definitely not ordinary.
He recalled what some veteran players had said: the bosses in the map all have aggro mechanisms; whoever fires first gets shot, and whoever is closest gets shot.
But he had never heard of a situation where a BOSS and a player could coexist peacefully and pass each other by.
"Brother," Li Hao quickly interrupted him, patting him on the shoulder, "Don't think about these things now. You're not seriously injured, but you need to get out of here quickly. Where are your teammates?"
The player glanced at his two teammates lying on the ground, and his face darkened.
"He's dead," he said. "Killed by that madman."
"Go and take their equipment back."
The player slowly stood up, holding onto the railing. He glanced in the direction of the warden. "Okay, thanks. I need to get equipment for my teammates. My backpack space isn't that big anymore, so these are for you."
He pulled out several small purple items and even some small blue ones from his bag, then left to collect the bodies of his teammates. Li Hao and his two companions hadn't had time to pick up anything anyway, and their bags were mostly empty, so they stuffed everything inside.
The warden shifted his gaze from the raven to Shi Ding, who lay in a pool of blood before him. "Take Shi Ding's body back. Call back."
He spoke coldly, then flicked his clothes and turned to leave.
Riflemen stepped forward and carried away Shi Ding's body and his equipment.
Although the warden's tone sounded calm, Jiang Chi could tell from his departing figure that the death of the shield soldier had displeased the warden.
As Li Hao and the other two watched the warden leave, they were all thinking the same thing: Raven's body was still here!
And those sledgehammer corpses!
These NPCs are so powerful, they must be very valuable!
Just as the three were about to begin their search, a voice suddenly rang in Jiang Chi's mind.
The warden's strength has been diminished!
Don't miss this opportunity!
Let's get to know him together now!
"!!"
Jiang Chi, Li Hao, and Chen Xiaoxun were all startled. They looked at each other and immediately confirmed with their teammates that they had all heard the voice; it was definitely not a hallucination.
Then the three of them turned their gazes in unison to the back of the warden not far away.
Only after confirming that the warden and his personal guard had left did the group finally breathe a sigh of relief. "You all heard that?"
"We heard that! They want us to kill the warden!"
"What is this?" Li Hao's voice trembled slightly. "A double agent?"
"But the mission prompt said that the warden's strength was damaged... Maybe it really is a good opportunity for us?" Chen Xiaoxun said with some doubt.
"Stop courting death, hurry up and clean up the battlefield! This intelligence alone is enough to make us rich." Jiang Chi suppressed the team's restless emotions and quickly brought the two back to reality.
"Oh, right! The raven's carcass is still there! Search it quickly!"
A few minutes later, the battlefield was cleared, and Jiang Chi pulled the evacuation gate. Unexpectedly, he didn't see a single prison guard trying to stop him.
In the end, Jiang Chi and his team failed to complete their mission and did not receive the 80,000 yuan reward.
The three then tested the prison level 1 access card in the cell area, and finally met up with the three surviving players again at the extraction point.
Before leaving, the player glanced at Li Hao and his two companions again, his expression complex.
"Thank you all for today," he said softly.
As Jiang Chi emerged from the Tidal Prison portal, watching the player walk away, he turned to Li Hao and Chen Xiaoxun and said, "He seems to genuinely believe we have connections with the warden."
Chen Xiaoxun smiled and said, "Let him think what he wants."
